John Normandin

Individual Music

John Normandin has been an Adjunct Professor of Music at Miami-Dade College North Campus since 2012 where he directs the Jazz Band and the Low Brass Studio.  Prior to 2012, he was the Band Director at Palm Springs Middle School, FBA District 16, for 19 years, where his bands consistently earned Superior ratings at FBA Music Performance Assessments.  Mr. Normandin continues to serve as an Adjudicator for the Florida Bandmasters Association since 2005, and has been selected several times as an Honors Band Conductor for Broward, Miami-Dade, and Palm Beach School districts.  He has also collaborated as a clinician with the 2021 Florida All-State Middle School Jazz Band, currently works as a clinician with middle school and high school band programs across the state, and can be seen performing around the South Florida tri-county area in styles including Classical, Jazz, Compa, and Salsa.  Mr. Normandin is currently a Doctoral Candidate in Jazz Performance at the Frost School of Music, University of Miami, where he also appointed as a Graduate Assistant, is the 1st Trombonist for the award-winning Concert Jazz Band, and honors a fellowship as Principal Trombone in the prestigious Henry Mancini Institute Orchestra.
