Matt Swift

Percussion

Matt Swift is a percussion performer, educator, and composer based out of the South Florida area. He has been teaching and writing since 2007. He has worked with nationally recognized programs such as Coral Glades High School, West Boca High School, Cypress Bay High School, Stoneman Douglas High School, Flannigan High School, West Broward High School, and New Mexico State University. He was also on the staff of PIW finalist STRYKE percussion for the 2012-2016 WGI seasons as a Front Ensemble technician and Front Ensemble Coordinator.

 

Matt graduated from the University of Miami’s Frost School of Music with a Bachelors degree in Music Business and Entertainment Industries. During his time at UM Matt was a member of STRYKE Percussion playing quads in 2009. He then performed as the drumset/rack percussionist for the Bluecoats drum and bugle corps in 2011. Matt has also performed with multiple Grammy winning recording artists such as Jennifer Lopez and Pitbull.

 

In the summers of 2014 and 2016 Matt toured all 47 prefectures in Japan as well as Seoul South Korea, as the snare drum soloist with the Tony and Emmy award winning stage show “Blast!”, and “Blast! The Music of Disney”. Matt also worked as a featured performer at Universal Studios Japan in the summer of 2015.

 

Currently, Matt lives in Ft. Lauderdale with his dog “Diddles”, and works for his family’s company, Flex Seal. He also continues to write, teach, and consult with band programs around the country.
